Cheers to Local Talent at Beer Fest

6 October 2008

Budding local musicians are getting ready to take to the stage this week at a leading South Coast performance venue as Eastbourne Beer Festival hosts a jam night in aid of St Wilfrid’s Hospice.

This Friday local musical talent will get the chance to showcase their talents to 1,200 festival goers in the Winter Garden’s Gold Room on the Beer Festival’s most popular night. Tickets for Friday evening sold out two weeks ago and with just a few tickets left for Saturday evening, festival fans are being encouraged to make the most of the 2 for 1 offer and book now for Thursday night.

Tickets for the Saturday day session are also still available when there will be folk music from the Band of Two, Morris dancing from Long Man Morris and Hunters Moon Morris, the big pub quiz and two talks on the art of brewing from Harvey’s and Beachy Head Brewery.

Eastbourne Borough Council Spokesperson for Tourism, Cllr Steve Wallis said “This year’s Beer Festival just keeps getting better and better. With the latest announcement that the jam night is back for 2008, the musical line-up is looking pretty spectacular and with a fantastic range of beers on offer, plus good food and a great atmosphere I’m sure this year’s festival will follow last year’s sell-out success.”

Thursday festival goers will get their hands on the first casks of ales from around the world, including the closer to home Beachy Head Original Ale and Legless Rambler from Beachy Head Brewery.

Big Al’s Trio will provide entertainment with their Boogie Woogie and EG Riley will impress visitors with their soul sounds in the Floral Hall, while Lackadaisy will provide unique Gypsy Swing in the Devonshire Halls on Thursday evening.

Attracting more than 3,500 visitors across the three days, Eastbourne Beer Festival served more than 11,500 pints last year and is looking to continuing its success when it returns this week from Thursday 9 – Saturday 11 October.

Beer enthusiasts can look forward to sampling the likes of Beachy Head’s Legless Rambler, Wolf’s Granny Wouldn’t Like It and Wyre Valley’s Piddle in the Cold at this year’s Festival.
